How Can I Make My Bedroom Look More Modern?

Geometric Shapes- Shapes and lines are a huge part of modern decor, so using these patterns in the fabrics and specifically in a rug seriously highlights modern style. 

Wall Art- Modern bedroom decor tends to be abstract, personal, or focused on nature. Abstract and natural artwork is simple enough, but personal photographs of traveling or important places are great for modern decor. After all, since modern style uses so little in ways of decor, using personal artwork not only serves a decorative purpose, but it also serves the purpose of showing off your values or what experiences you’ve had.

What Colors Work With Modern Bedroom Decor?

Modern bedrooms are best known for working with stark black and white, but modern is also a style that blends well with other popular design fads. So, here’s a basic rundown of what colors you can use when mixing styles. 

Mid-Century Modern: Yellow and blue are popular accent colors that can appear boldly as all the wall colors or as the main bedding.

Modern Boho: Tan and white tend to be the base colors, and a lot of the accents are woven and natural materials. However, this style also uses an abundance of plant life and greens along with earthy tones and teals. With modern boho, there’s really no limit to which colors you can include.

Modern Farmhouse/ Modern Coastal: Both of these styles love white, but farmhouse tends to be more black and white while coastal definitely adds in more navy and green. 

Modern Country/Modern French Country: Country and French Country both love to highlight nature by using light toned wood in the furniture and decor. Accent colors tend to be muted blues, yellows, and greens. 

Modern Rustic/Modern Vintage: Modern rustic decor also uses wood as a huge part of its design, but it uses wood that looks clean and refined as opposed to the well-loved look you sometimes see in other rustic designs. As for vintage, they use pieces that look like they have history to them, but they are in like-new condition so they fit the clean and polished look of modern design.

Modern Tuscan/Traditional: Both of these styles tend to be a little more ornate, although that detailing is still reined in to fit with modern minimalism. Brown tones such as cream and beige fit into this style, and so does wood and stonework.

Modern bedroom decor highlights finding beauty in simplicity. Because it’s focused on such a simple concept, it plays well with other popular design styles.
