How Bedroom Rug Runners Can Highlight Your Room Decor

A bedroom rug runner can highlight your room’s decor by contributing to the room’s color scheme, style, and tone. Outside of those three aspects, you can also look at the rug’s pattern/design as inspiration for the other wall art, poufs, pillows, and other decor in the room. As an example, if your rug features geometric shapes, then you can use similar shapes elsewhere in the decor to tie it all together. That way, the room feels cohesive and intentionally styled. 

Decorating With Bedroom Rug Runners

While it’s true that bedrooms are often decorated with larger area rugs, runner rugs are a great option for smaller rooms or even standard sized bedrooms. Bedroom rug runners come in a variety of sizes, colors, and styles, so if you’re working with a unique footprint or just want to do something different in your bedroom, going with at least one bedroom rug runner is a surefire way to share your style in your way!

Choosing Which Bedroom Rug Runners are Right for You

As you shop through a wide selection of bedroom rug runners, think through these key areas to help you find your perfect rug. 

Position: First, determine where you want to place your bedroom runner area rug, and if you want more than one. Here are just a few ideas to get you started. 

Symmetry: If your bed is a central focal point, then you can keep that symmetry by placing a runner rug on either side of the bed. You can have the rugs go all the way to the wall and under the nightstands, or you can have them start in front of the tables. 

One Sided: Whenever you have a smaller bed or one that is pushed off to one side of the room, you can add a bedroom runner rug next to just one side of the bed. 

End of the Bed: Yet another option is to place a runner rug right along the foot of the bed. You can have it either partly under the foot of the bed or right along the edge of it. 

Size: Once you know your ideal layout, it’s time to do measurements and figure out which size bedroom rug runner(s) you need. Next to a queen bed, you may use 2x5 or 3x5 runners, and the one you use at the end of the bed depends on the size of the bed and how much excess you want reaching past the sides of the bed. 

Pattern: Fortunately, bedroom runner area rugs come in a ton of different patterns and designs. Each interior design style has certain patterns and motifs that relate to it, so take a look at your favorite style and see what sorts of designs are prominent. As a bonus, find similar elements between your runner rug and the other decor to make the room more cohesive. 

Color: Finally, there are so many choices for color palettes. Neutral tones like white, grey, black, and beige are common in a variety of styles, and these neutral tones often have a calming effect in their rooms. However, other colors like blue, red, gold, green and others are also options, and depending on the intensity of those colors, they can range anywhere from loud to soothing. Focus on the other colors in the room and what tone you want to strike, and then choose your color palette from there.
