Kids bathroom decor can be its own vein away from standard bathroom decor and fit into more youthful, child-friendly decor, but it can also include some elements seen in master bathrooms and guest bathrooms. Basically, kids bath decor is what you make it!
What Kids Bathroom Decor Styles Should I Choose?
You can choose any design style for your bathroom, but in terms of what kids may relate to, here are a few common choices:
Coastal: Coastal decor in your kids bath isn’t limited to beachside houses; coastal is a winning design because it incorporates lighter colors and creates a relaxing environment that doesn’t feel stuck up or stiff.
Farmhouse: A bathroom decorated in farmhouse style will also create a warm and welcoming space, although the color scheme may not include as many blues and beiges as a coastal bathroom. Instead, you may use natural woods to create that cozy vibe and comfortable style.
Boho:Boho is especially popular with teen girls, but it can fit in with younger kids as well. When you’re decorating with Boho in mind, you’ll continue to use neutral colors and a light color palette, but you’ll also include more natural elements like plants and woven materials.
Traditional or Modern: Both of these styles work well when your kids are a bit older. They highlight more ornate details or clean-cut lines and aren’t as whimsical or approachable as some of the other styles, but they still have their merits!
What Accessories Should Every Kids Bathroom Have?
Containers- Kids often need extra help to stay organized, so having containers and boxes for bath items can be a big help in keeping the area tidy. You can keep extra towels in the containers, shampoo, extra toilet paper, or other bathroom essentials in cute containers that fit the bathroom’s style.
Linens- Towels are a must in any bathroom, so why not choose ones that help create some style? You can stick with plain, neutral colored towels, or you can use them as a chance to add in your kid’s favorite colors.
Shower Curtain- Shower curtains are a big area where you can express your style and bathroom’s theme. There are curtains out there with dinosaurs on them, rainbows on display, fun patterns, or just about anything else you’re looking for. Using a fun shower curtain can be a statement piece of your kids’ bath decor.
Rug- Aside from its practicality, rugs are also a big part of defining your bathroom’s style. You can choose a long runner if you have a double vanity or longer walkway, or you can add in a smaller 2x3 rug in front of the sink or tub. Depending on which design style you like, you can also go for rugs that have fun patterns, unique designs, and vibrant colors. Or, you can choose something a bit more subdued and mature. You know the kids best, so decorate with them in mind.
Wall Art- Wall art can be hung in the bathroom, and it can be either bathroom specific or just general, cute artwork. There’s a million and one options out there, so choose ones that fit in with your kids' bath decor.
What Colors Should I Add To My Kids Bathroom?
Gender neutral colors are a wise choice if you have boys and girls, or if you see yourself expanding your family. Grays and whites can be excellent base colors, and so can blues. The rest depends on how much you want to lean into a youthful color scheme. Brighter, rainbow colors and primaries can be used if you really want it to be a vibrant room for younger children, or you can use more muted or deeper tones for a more sophisticated space for older kids.
