Shape: The shape of the rug is another aspect to consider when finalizing how you place the rug. Standard living room rugs are often rectangular or round, but there are other teal living room rugs that are oval, square, or other shapes, including animal skins. The shape you choose can alter the mood and style of the space; rectangular rugs can sometimes come across as more traditional (although pattern plays a large part in that as well), while round rugs can convey more softness because of the gentle curves. 

Pattern: The pattern in your teal living room area rug can also impact the room’s style. There are plenty of patterns that have more ornate, persian designs that fit well in elegant and traditional spaces. You can also choose a rug that has these designs, but choose a teal patterned rug that is more distressed or worn looking for farmhouse, coastal, and other more homey living rooms. Geometric shapes and more abstract patterns can fit in well with modern and contemporary design. 

Shades/Pairings: Finally, the shade of teal and what other colors it's paired with is important in setting the tone and style. You’ll often find brown and teal living room rugs or ones that are teal and grey in traditional spaces. These colors will often be more muted in those scenarios, or they may be richer chocolate browns and teals. The muted teal tones often show up in more subtle spaces, whether that be farmhouse or traditional. Modern can also go either subtle or bold depending on what mood is being conveyed and what other accents are in the room.
