A safari themed rug can highlight your room’s decor by really honing in on the theme, reinforcing the color palette, and setting the tone for the whole room. Since safari rugs tend to lean heavily into their theme, you can pair that with other themed wall art and decor to fully establish your room’s style and make it consistent throughout the entire space.
Safari themed rugs are so fun to decorate with because of all their potential. They’re becoming a staple of nurseries and play rooms, but truthfully, safari rugs extend far beyond just those two areas. You can find rugs that lean boldly into the theme with pictures of animals and animal prints on the rug, or you can go subtle and choose a rug that has a safari color scheme. Since there’s so much potential out there with safari rugs, you may be wondering how to find one that’s just right for you. One way to start your search is to consider these important topics.
Position: First, consider your room’s layout and decide which area you want to accentuate with a rug. Each room is unique, so take these ideas as guidelines to get you started.
Living Room: To establish your main seating area as the place to be, center a large safari themed area rug in the middle of that space. You have options as to whether you set the rug in front of the seats, under the front legs, or further beneath the chairs. Size/Shape: After you know your ideal layout, you can finalize the size and shape of your safari themed area rug. Rectangular, round, and oval are three common shapes to work with, but you can also find safari themed rugs in other shapes, including leaf or animal shapes. As for size, that will depend on the shape you choose and how you want it to layer with your furniture. Overall, look to establish visual balance where the rug isn’t too large or too small in comparison to the room and furniture.
Pattern: With safari themed rugs, you have plenty of options with designs and patterns. Go bold with animal prints and animal artwork or go subtle with abstract prints that have a jungle color palette.
