Using a 7x10 Area Rug

The first step to making sure a 7x10 area rug will fit in your home is checking measurements. You want to leave 24” between the edges of your rug and the wall for the best fit. With this in mind, a 7x10 rug would fit best in a space that’s 11’x14’ or larger. In outdoor settings and areas with limited room, you can get away with placing a 7x10 rug in a space that’s 9’x12’.

If you’d like to use a 7x10 rug in living room arrangements, try it at the center of your seating area. Place the front two legs of your sofa, chair(s), and/or loveseat on the rug, and center the coffee table in the middle.

Bedroom

You can place a 7x10 rug under a king or queen bed. In either case, arrange it so that the bottom 80% of the bed is on the rug and the back legs are off. This placement also leaves the nightstands off the rug. You should have plenty of padded floor space to either side of the bed with this placement.

Patio or Entryway
