This collection is hand-tufted in Jaipur, India and represent an entirely new standard of tufted production. The yarn used is highland Afghani wool that is spun by hand, then "hard-twisted" by hand to give the programs a uniquely "hand-crafted" texture. The striated patina in the lines is achieved in two ways. First, the hard-twist wool does not absorb all dye colors with the same saturation. This provided a kind of "sparkle" to the finish. Second, the wool is dyed in small hand batches. The large number of dye lots used in every color increases the striated effect. After hand shearing, the rugs are given a low luster finishing wash that removes the excess clippings from the pile and helps to set the dye colors. The production techniques noted above, the combination of both contemporary and simple traditional patterns, and the sophisticated colors combine to give the Impressions Collections a highly textural, hand-crafted appearance that offers incredible design flexibility and their surprisingly affordable price.
